Ava's Penguin

hello there!

A couple of weeks ago I needed to make a Birthday present for a 3 year old girl! I haven't seen her sense she was a baby so i wasn't completely sure what to make for her! Then I found out she loves Penguins! Oh goody! So my search began!

I came across this little cutie..... isn't it cute? of course it needed a girlie touch! So here was my take on a little round Penguin..

The pattern calls for a "G" hook, I wanted her a little bit bigger so I used a "J" hook! and the pink bow was a definite necessity!

When Ava opened her Penguin she "Gasped" and instantly gave it a hug! oh sweet, sweet, success!

My little "owlive"!

Meet Owlive!

She is my loverly little owl cell phone case!
A few days ago I was browsing the web for all things Owl, when I came across this photo...http://www.flickr.com/photos/thatischarming/4179172442/... which lead me to this tutorial...http://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/my_weblog/2009/12/owl-iphone-cozy-diy.html! I have been wanting to make an owl cell phone case for quite some time, so this sparked a project in my head:)

Now, I did some things differently. Instead of crocheting a rectangle, then attaching a piece of felt, I crocheted the whole thing, (doubled the length of my phone, folded in half, and sewed the sides together!). Also I crocheted the eyes and used buttons instead of cutting out circles from felt! And I thought she would look cute with some wings instead of the yarn embroidery at the bottom!

So.... Here she is...

 Isn't she adorable?

My phone fits snugly inside!
I love her! every time i look down at her I smile! I love owls! Although she isn't exactly perfect, her little quirks make me love her even more! Like her crooked imperfect eyelashes, and her crooked button eyes, that have a little bit of hair color dying the white string I used to attach them with, (she got a little to close at work while I was coloring my clients hair!). I would love to try and make some more cute little animals for someone to enjoy! So please don't hesitate to make any requests!

Eco friendly coffee sleeves!

I love the idea of going Eco friendly in any way craft-able :)  So lets STOP using all of those cardboard sleeves, that lets face, not everyone recycles when they are done with! Instead keep your own awesomely crafted coffee sleeve with you! Save the planet in style :)

This one is my "bow tie" sleeve with cameo pendent.
Brown triple crochet double button sleeve.
Extra large single crochet oatmeal sleeve.
Purple and gold double crochet sleeve.
 Red "bow tie" sleeve.
Thanks for looking! hope you enjoyed them!

Hello! Welcome to my Blog :)

Hi blog world!

My name is Brittany! I am a new Wife, a doggy and kitty mama, and I LOVE to craft! I remember being a little kid visiting my Aunt DD and we would just sit and craft all day! So I know I get that gene from her:) I am a Hair Stylist, so naturally I love making hair accessories! Mostly trial and error is how I work, and normally I don't know where I am going to end up when I start crafting but somehow it all seems to work out! A couple of months ago my Aunt DD taught me how to crochet.......... INSTANT ADDICT! I started my first scarf that night and finished the next day!!! I have been "hooked" ever sense, haha sorry, had to say it :) anyways I love working from patterns but mostly because it gives me my own ideas! like I said, I am surprised half of the things I do turn out looking good:) I am now loving the fact that I am crafty Aunt B to my Niece because I cherish all of my memories with my Aunt! Sooooooo..... now to "Olive You", I created Olive You because I have gotten so may compliments on the things I have crafted and figured, why not find a way to make a little extra money these days? plus I love sharing my stuff with other people, and I love the idea of all things bought being homemade! I got the name from a silly inside joke/story between my husband and I. when we were first dating I started mouthing the words "Olive Oil" to him, he couldn't figure out what I was trying to say and probably why I was so weird:) So I exclaimed "OLIVE OIL...... ya know, its supposed to look like I am saying I Love You!!!"....... his respose was, "uhm its olive JUICE, ya weirdo!" so ever sense then we tell eachother "olive oil" and that was that! but I figured "Olive Oil" wasnt exactly the best name for a crafty business/blog so I decided to go with "Olive You". well enough blabbing! My blog is still a work in progress while I try and figure out what the heck I am doing haha! Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my rambling!

Olive You, and I hope you enjoy my stuff:)
